AfDB OPENS NEW ULTRAMODERN BUILDING IN CAMEROON

AfDB has officially unveils its plans with the opening of an ultra modern regional office building in Yaounde, Cameroon that reaffirms its commitment to Central Africa’s development course.

The building which is situated in the Golf district, will have six-storey regional office building that is equipped with 130 workstations, several meeting rooms, and a clinic. Also the Central Africa regional office is expected to operate as one of six Bank globally, including one in Asia.

Speaking during the unveiling, Prime Minister of Cameroon Ngute said “This inauguration demonstrates the strength of the relationship between Central Africa and the African Development Bank. The regional office “will enable the Bank to get closer to the realities of our sub-region and to provide more than in the past a specific support in line with the expectations of our population.

He further praised the Bank’s decision to establish the regional hub in Cameroon.

On the other part, Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, the Bank Group’s Vice-President for the Regional Development, said “It will expedite the implementation of our regional integration initiatives in Central Africa and promote business development with the private sector, a crucial element for inclusive accelerated growth and development.” 

According to her, the regional office will strengthen dialogue with regional economic communities, development partners and national authorities.

The deal represent a win for all parties involved as the inauguration of the regional office of the African Development Bank Group in Yaoundé, symbolizing a new chapter in regional development.

The ceremony had attendees from Cameroonian government officials, diplomats, representatives of international and sub regional bodies, as well as the private sector and civil society.
